Is there a SNMP client application available on windows sockets?

Subject: Finger31 and wsmtpsrv [2 diff. Q's]


Hi all,


  I am having trouble with both finger and wsmptsrv for winsock.


  When I run finger31 (either protocol) I get the "Cannot locate port for
  finger service" error.  I get this even if I give an invalid host.

  It appears that getservbyname() would lend a clue, but I can even find where
  it is defined.  Can anyone tell me whether the port it is looking for is a
  local winsock port of a remote port (I assume it is a remote port).


  As for wsmtpsrv, I get a GPF when it receives an incoming message.  The
  install instructions seem easy enough, but I feel that there is a variable
  that needs setting or something.

  Any insight on either app. is welcome.

Subject: sorting articles in Trumpet News Reader for Windows

Hi guys and gals.

anybody know how to reconfigure the news reader to sort the articles in a
different order(serially or alphabetic by subject).  That is because now it
does it in a weird way...not sure which way...

And, is there a way to tell it to display certain info in the article list.

or is this all available through the registered version.  (i'm pretty sure I
haven't registered it) :)

Thanks for suggestions, Joe.

If it's a telnet options negotiation problem, why does FTP behave
similarly?

Ashok said that this is a known problem. Could you spefify some details,
Ashok?

Look under the "View" pull down menu item.

Press the "Format" button when you have the list of articles up.

Subject: WinVN - & Alternative Newsreaders

I'm trying to find an alternative newsreader to Trumpet. I want one that
threads, and so I downloaded WinVN. Can anyone tell me if WinVN always loads
in the articles, for example if there are 1000 articles in the group, and I
read them all, next time will WinVN still read them all in again.

Is there a way of configuring it not to do this, and to show you only the new
articles that have occured ?

If not then I can't carry on using it. Is there a better newsreader ?

There is a quick time view available through anonymous ftp to :

        sparlast.phil15.uni-sb.de

in directory : /pub/multimedia/windows
